When the installation was done I got to logon as usual, but before I even got the chance to hit the keyboard i get the notorious STOP: KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED etc. stop in tcpip.sys. There is something about that in the Knowledgebase. The fixed tcpip.sys has a different (newer) timestamp.

If you have the same diligence to learning about BSODs as you do to learning about C/C++ debugging, then fixing problems is a matter of reading a BSOD, however, even then, there can be some problems. Example 1: installed a hotfix on a machine which corrupted the tcpip.sys file on the system. BSOD on boot (fun fun).

P3B-F with Major NT4.0 Stop "BSOD" Issues
I get a BSOD on restarting BEFORE I can log in and do anything! The screen says there is an exception in TCPIP.SYS and then does a hex dump. Since this happens before I can log in, I can do nothing to debug this. The only way out is to re-image the workstation disk and start again. HTF can I progress this?

W2K Stop At Startup - TCPIP.SYS
Recently he has been experiencing a number of BSOD only when he uses Firefox - if he uses M$ Internet Explorer there are no problems Mosdt of the BSON have had with the common denominator TCPIP.SYS etc etc. There have been a number of other BSOD messages but I would stress only when he uses Firefox.

Whose fault is it? tcpip.sys or my driver.

In both cases the message was "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" and the address was in "TCPIP.SYS". I have no indication as to what triggered these crashes. Does this ring any bells with anyone?
